September Highlights

We're excited to share the latest updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged. Staying connected with families is one of the most important parts of helping our students succeed. We believe communication works best when it’s a two-way process where we share updates and also listen to your thoughts and ideas. Additionally, you have received communication from the child's classroom teacher, the front office, the district, and the Spangler PTA. September was a month filled with excitement! Our students participated in a variety of activities, including maintaining the garden, applying for and interviewing for student leader positions, and learning while having fun. A huge thank you to our parents and staff for making this month a success!

October is a very busy month for us. It's wonderful that we started this month off with parent conferences. I hope you had a chance to share insights about your child' home life and learning style, and for teachers to provide data on strengths and areas needing improvement. Please continue to communicate with your child's teachers to ensure a successful year.

Be on the lookout for details about all activities, spirit days, and ways you can be part of the fun.

As always, thank you for your partnership.

In the community,

Mrs. Johal

Golden Spartans of Month

We celebrated these students for being Golden Spartans of the month. Thank you, parents, for joining in the celebration.

Math

Instructional Updates

At Spangler, we are diving deep into "Number Talks" or “Math Talks” to build number sense and confidence in math. During a Math Talk, students solve a problem mentally and then share out the different strategies. The focus is not just on the answer, but on how they got there. This helps children see that there are many ways to solve a problem, strengthens mental math, and encourages flexible thinking. You can support this at home by asking your child, “How did you figure that out?”

Peacemaker Program

Our Peacemakers have completed Soul Shoppe training! These students strive to help peers resolve conflicts at school by using communication skills and conflict resolution strategies. We are so proud that they are stepping forward to be leaders!!
