Hello Spangler Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend with your family. I am looking forward to Parent Conference Week taking place Monday, September 28 through Friday, October 02, 2026 of next week. You will have a chance to partner with your child's teacher on academics and social-emotional learning. Please note that all week will be minimum days. If you need a translator in your primary language, please let the teacher know. These 5 questions can give you a great overall picture of your child:
- What is my child doing well?
- What is one area where my child needs to grow?
- How is my child doing socially and emotionally?
- What can we do at home to support learning?
- What should our next goal be for my child?
I am grateful for the partnership between our families and teachers. Every student comes to school with strengths and possibilities to Spangler, and when we work together with care, each student can feel supported and inspired to grow. Thank you for partnering with us.

Golden Spartan Assembly This Friday, September 25, 2026, we will celebrate select students at the Golden Spartan Assembly. We will be recognizing students who have demonstrated outstanding character, academic growth, and commitment to our core school values. Families of student honorees will receive direct notification. |

National PTA Reflections Art Program (2026–2027) Unleash your child's creativity! Submissions are now open for the annual National PTA Reflections Art Program. Students may express themselves across six categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. - Submission Deadline: Sunday, October 18, 2026

We are launching this campaign to give our community a simple, meaningful way to share their hopes, dreams, ideas, and wishes for themselves, school, or their community. Here are some reasons for students: - Give every student a voice – Students have an opportunity to share what matters to them.
- Build belonging – Hearing students’ wishes helps create a school culture where everyone feels seen, valued, and included.
- Encourage hope and aspiration – Students think beyond what is happening today and imagine what could be possible.
- Strengthen student agency – Students learn that their ideas and perspectives can contribute to positive change.
- Build empathy – Sharing wishes can help students discover that classmates may have hopes and experiences different from their own.
- Identify student needs – We learn about concerns, interests, or ideas that students don't always express in traditional settings.
- Create a schoolwide sense of community – Collecting and celebrating wishes can connect students across grade levels and classrooms.
Students complete one sentence stem, anonymously, on paper. We will post the responses where the whole community walks past them. I wish my parents knew... I wish my teachers knew... I wish my peers knew... We also like to hear from you as well. You can fill out this form. Responses will be anonymous. |
Spartan Sprint is our largest fundraiser and funds the programs we have throughout the school year. Our Spartan Sprint is on Friday, October 9 this year and it is an exciting event for our students. We'll send out information on how you can help by volunteering as we get closer to the date. You should receive a bright handout sometime soon for our Spartan Sprint this October 9th.
In the meantime, please help your child with reaching out to friends & family for sponsorships/pledges. There are two ways you can do this: - 1. (Preferred) Use our online platform Spartan Sprint on 99 Pledges to create your child's individual page and then share your unique link with friends & family. Below are some screenshots of how to do this.
- Click on the "Add a Participant" option.
- Enter your child's full name, at least 1 parent email, and select your child's teacher. Click "add" and that's it. You'll then get an email from 99 Pledges with your child's page info as well as updates when donations/pledges are made on their behalf.
- 2. Use the paper form we will send home soon. You'll collect money in either cash or checks payable to Spangler Elementary PTA and turn them in after the event (Monday 10/12)
Here's some additional Spartan Sprint Info: - Our goal is $25,000. Last year, we raised a little close to $20k and we're confident this year can be stronger.
- Classes will go out throughout the day (by grade) and run for 15 minutes. Popsicle treats will be handed out afterwards. We'll send out the running schedule as well as volunteer sign up as we get closer to the date.
- Students will get to wear their Sprint T-shirt (Order them if you haven't already). Everyone is also encouraged to get into the neon vibe by wearing either the neon shorts, socks, headbands (just a few examples) to keep up with the neon spirit. Help your child plan an appropriate outfit for the day that is comfortable/safe to run in.

"Halloween with Heart" Costume Drive Help make Halloween memorable for every student in our community! Spangler Elementary is hosting a "Halloween with Heart" Costume Drive to collect clean, gently used, or new Halloween costumes for local families in need. - Collection Bin: Located in the main office front lobby.
- Items Accepted: Complete costumes, masks, and accessories in good, clean condition for elementary-aged children.
- Collection Deadline: Saturday, October 10, 2026.
