Spangler Elementary School – Volunteer and Visitor Photography & Recording Policy

Posted Date: 10/09/26 (09:24 AM)

Dear Spangler Families,

Thank you so much for partnering with us and volunteering your time or visiting at Spangler Elementary. Whether you are assisting in classrooms, supporting school activities, or chaperoning field trips, your dedicated support plays an essential role in enriching our students' educational experiences.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and secure learning environment, we would like to remind all volunteers and visitors of our district policies and guidelines regarding student privacy, photography, and video recording.

Guidelines for Photography, Recording, and Social Media Usage

  • Classroom Recording Permission: In accordance with California Education Code 51512, no electronic listening or recording devices may be used in any classroom or instructional setting without prior explicit permission from the classroom teacher and principal.

  • Protecting Student Privacy: Please refrain from photographing, recording, or capturing images of students other than your own children during field trips or school events unless authorized by school administration. Many families have opted out of media releases, and we must honor their privacy preferences.

  • Social Media Sharing: Images or videos containing other students must not be shared on personal social media accounts or public online platforms without explicit parent/guardian and administrative permission.

  • District Compliance: All volunteers are expected to act in full accordance with district policies, regulations, and school rules at all times.

We deeply appreciate your co-operation and understanding in putting student safety and privacy first. Thank you for your continued dedication to our school community.

In partnership,

Spangler Elementary School Administration
