MATH CLUB / MATH OLYMPIAD

Open to 3rd-6th grade students who are interested in getting creative with their problem solving skills. Students will be playing highly engaging math games, solving logic puzzles, and preparing for math competitions (Math Olympiads) against other elementary schools. Math Club will be supporting PTA’s monthly Math Olympiad competitions.
YEARBOOK

Open to 5th/6th grade students who are interested in creating a memory book for the Spangler community. They will need to devote their time and effort to taking photos, designing page layouts, creating and organizing content. We will learn how to use a website to build the yearbook as well as other tasks that involve marketing and selling our yearbook.

Open to 1st-6th grade students. There will be one performance in the spring. Performing Arts is structured so students all participants sing songs and those that want to audition for a speaking part can. Tech crew is open to 6th graders only. Permission slips will go out to families for sign ups later in the year.
CHESS (FALL) / KENDAMA (SPRING)

Open to 1st-6th grade students who are interested in participating in after school chess and/or kendama at Spangler. Chess club will be offered during the fall semester (September through January) and Kendama club will be offered during the spring semester (February through May). Chess club gives students an opportunity to learn one of the world's most popular and oldest board games as well as experience playing against other students in-person. Kendama Club gives students the opportunity to learn the fun and challenging Japanese skill toy while simultaneously improving their hand eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills.
CODING
Location: Library/Computer Lab

Open to 4th-6th grade students who are interested to learn about coding. Students will learn how to write codes(directions) in the C programming language to move a robot. We will follow an interactive program that was developed to teach STEM fundamentals through engaging and exciting hands-on robotics activities.
GARDEN CLUB
Location: Garden
Time: Intermediate Lunch Recess
Day: Tuesdays and Thursdays and every other Friday
Teacher: Ms Garcia and Ms Vanchy
Open to all students who are interested in helping keep the garden clean. This will be during grades 4th-6th’s first recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays and after school every other Friday for all students. Come learn about gardening and tending to the plants. Garden club will help ensure that our community has access to an unkempt garden. It is a chance to connect with others outside of their class and enjoy what the garden has to offer. There will be announcements shared when the garden will be open for families to come help harvest crops.
